Code Enforcement Meeting Recap

Did you know:

  • Your trash roll cart can be placed on the street only on the day of trash collection
  • Any car on private property in the city must be operable and licensed
  • Only three unrelated people can live in one house
  • Your grass can’t be taller than 12 inches

Here is a cheat sheet listing the top ten most common city code enforcement violations. The City of Columbia property maintenance division provided this list at the RCC meeting April 19.

If you want to report a violation, call 545-3430.

Thanks to City Zoning Administrator Johnathan Chambers and Housing Official David Chambers for an informative presentation on city zoning and code enforcement ordinances at our last meeting. Click here for the Columbia Star’s story about the meeting.

April Quarterly Meeting: Code Enforcement

Concerned about neighbors parking in their yards? Grass too high? Too many people living in one house? Join us, Thursday, April 19, at 6:30 p.m. at the Owens Field Airport conference room, 1400 Jim Hamilton Blvd., to hear a presentation from Zoning Administrator Johnathan Chambers and housing official David Hatcher about the ordinances applying to residential homes and what you can do about neighbors who don’t follow the rules.

We’ll also have updates on park improvements, grants we’re applying for, and the fun movie series we have planned this spring. Come meet your neighbors and hear what’s going on in the neighborhood!
