Please join your neighbors on Thursday, April 17th at 6:30 p.m. for the quarterly RCC meeting. We have on the agenda:
- Officer Broder on the reorganization of the CPD PACE team
- Andy Whitfield, with the Columbia Tree and Appearance Commission, to request that the neighborhood support the burial of utility lines. Read the proposed resolution and an article in The State about the proposal.
- Karen Kuse, to update us on the Montessori School‘s development plans
- Dan Bilderbach of Columbia Resilience, which plans to spruce up the orchard at Owens Field Park
- Karen Kuse, to share the Montessori School’s application to close part of Oceola Street
- Scott Mechling, who proposes to open a liquor store on Rosewood Drive

The following five homes have been nominated for the best lights in Rosewood this holiday season! Drive around and take a look at them, because one even has Christmas music that syncs with the lights! Choose your favorite and vote at the bottom of this page. Voting ends Monday, December 23, at midnight.
Join Rosewood neighbors and merchants on Sunday, December 1, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for the official start to the Rosewood holiday season! We’ll celebrate Light Up Rosewood at 6 p.m. by flipping the switch to the Rosewood Drive Snowflake Lights.
This family friendly event will also include:
- artist vendors
- cider and hot chocolate
- kids activities
- Too Fat to Fly food truck
- Liquid Assets drinks
So do a little holiday shopping, meet your neighbors, and enjoy the holiday cheer!

The City of Columbia will hold municipal elections next week. Challenger Moe Baddourah is running against incumbent mayor Steve Benjamin. Incumbent at-large council member Tameika Devine is being challenged by Tommy Burkett.
A Richland County referendum to help fund Richland Library will also be on the ballot. Learn more about the referendum question here.

Aramark, formerly located on Airport Boulevard, has demolished their building and relocated so that environmental cleanup of the soil beneath the building can begin. The work is expected to be complete by December 2013. Environmental work has been ongoing at the site since the 1990s.

The Montessori School of Columbia, located on Oceola in Rosewood, plans to expand their campus. The school has purchased the home at 415 S. Maple Street and is in the process of purchasing the home at 413 S. Maple St. They plan to demolish both homes and construct a new building on their property. View the architect’s renderings here.
You can see pictures of the proposed building on the school’s website. Please note these plans were developed before the opportunity to purchase 413 S. Maple became available and the parking situation has changed.
